ENROLMENT POLICY

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. The child must have attained the age of four years for Pre-School and five years for Year 1 by the last day in December of the year prior to enrolment.
  2. Parents are to familiarise themselves with the Priority Criteria and clearly indicate under which category they intend to apply for enrolment. [P1 - P7]
  3. Children with special needs will be considered for enrolment in accordance with Brisbane Catholic Education policies and procedures.
  4. All enrolment applications must be accompanied by :

N.B.Enrolment applications will not be processed until all documentary requirements have been completed. Failure to complete these requirements may delay or affect the acceptance of the application.

CONDITIONS OF ENROLMENT

  1. Parents are expected to accept a sincere commitment to give the child every opportunity to experience the fullness of their faith, to provide regular opportunities to practise it and fully support the school in its mission to foster the child's growth to full stature in Christ.
  2. Parents are expected to support and encourage the living out of gospel values and the standards of behaviour that these imply.
  3. Parents are expected to accept and support all school policies and procedures. These have been formulated for the efficient management of the school and the safety and welfare of children and visitors.
  4. Parents are expected to commit themselves to the payment of school fees and charges. Where there are difficulties in meeting this requirement, contact should be made with the School Principal or Parish Priest.

ENROLMENT PROCEDURES

  1. An enrolment application for the following year can be made at any time by obtaining an Application for Enrolment Form from the school office phone (075) 964 188 and lodging this prior to 1 August each year.
  2. Interviews to finalise eligibility status will be conducted during August and September. All applications are considered by the principal and parish priest and
  3. decisions about enrolments will be communicated in writing by the end of September.
  4. Late applications or applications for enrolment to commence during the year are always considered with due regard to the eligibility priority criteria. However, offers of an enrolment for such applications are contingent upon the availability of places in particular year levels.

ENROLMENT POLICY

St Brigid's Primary School was established by the Nerang Catholic Parish in 1994 to provide for the educational needs of the children of parish families. The primary purpose of the school is to nurture and educate the whole child through and by the principles, traditions and teachings of the Church and within a Community of Faith.

In recognition of the importance of the relationship between the Catholic School and the Parish Community and with due reference to Archdiocesan policies and practices, the following criteria are adopted to establish priorities for accepting enrolments :

ENROLMENT PRIORITY CRITERIA

The Principal, in consultation with the Parish Priest, may exercise discretion regarding applications where pastoral considerations apply and, therefore, may determine a child's elegibility beyond the stated criteria.
